Special Postmark
With the vision of “Zero Accidents on the Road, Hong Kong’s Goal”, it is the responsibility of each and every citizen to maintain road safety. All road users, be they pedestrians, drivers, passengers or cyclists, must strictly observe traffic laws and regulations. For example, pedestrians must follow traffic signals when crossing roads; drivers should stay focused and must not drink and drive; passengers should wear seat belts for their own safety, while children in private cars are required to use appropriate child restraining devices; and cyclists should wear personal protective equipment, obey traffic rules and refrain from riding on pavements. To further raise public awareness of road safety, Hongkong Post issues a set of four stamps and a stamp sheetlet on the theme of “Road Safety”, demonstrating the correct behaviours and proper attitudes of road users, with a view to improving road safety in Hong Kong through concerted efforts.

$2.40 Stamp - Pedestrian Safety
When crossing roads, pedestrians should stay alert, keep an eye on the surrounding traffic conditions while walking, and avoid becoming phubbers. The stamp ingeniously conveys safety awareness through contrasting images. On one side, an adult is holding a child’s hand tightly as they cross the road while the green light is on, demonstrating the proper use of pedestrian crossing facilities. On the other side, a pedestrian is depicted crossing the road with his head down in the mobile phone, oblivious to the fact that the pedestrian light has turned red—a dangerous act that stands in stark contrast to the former.
$4.20 Stamp - Driving Safety
Alcohol will affect driving ability significantly. Not only does drink-driving endanger the safety of drivers themselves and others, it is also a criminal offence. The stamp conveys a profound warning through a sharp contrast. On one side is an exemplar of safe driving: a driver focusing on the road conditions ahead with both hands firmly gripping the steering wheel. The other side shows a negative example of drink-driving, in which a driver is portrayed holding a liquor bottle with a dazed look, completely disregarding road safety.
$5.70 Stamp – Passenger Safety
Seat belts are a critical lifeline for passengers in the event of an accident. They protect the safety of both drivers and passengers. When a vehicle is in motion, it is vital for its passengers to properly wear seat belts, and children in private cars are required to use child restraining devices. The stamp depicts an adult in the back seat securely fastened with a seat belt and a toddler safely seated next to her in an appropriate child restraining device. The other scene on the stamp shows two kids having fun in the back seat, unrestrained and off their seats, which poses significant safety risks.
$5.80 Stamp – Cycling Safety
Cyclists on the road must follow traffic rules to ensure their own safety and that of other road users. One side of the stamp illustrates an exemplar of safe cycling: a cyclist in proper personal protective equipment, firmly gripping the handlebars and riding on a cycle track. The other side of the stamp shows the opposite. A cyclist speeding along a sidewalk without a helmet is losing balance as the bicycle wobbles due to being overloaded with heavy items—an alarming scene that draws stares.
$10 Stamp Sheetlet – Follow Traffic Rules
Road safety concerns every citizen and all road users share the responsibility of fostering a safe road environment. The $10 stamp sheetlet, through a refined design, brings together various safety examples of road users, presenting a harmonious scene of “Road safety is everyone’s responsibility”.
