324 Solar Terms – Spring

Reportedly originating in the Yellow River Basin, the 24 solar terms of the Chinese calendar reflect the change of seasons and meteorological patterns. The Chinese system of 24 solar terms was inscribed on the UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016. Hongkong Post takes pride in presenting the first special stamp issue themed on the 24 solar terms in 2020. Debuting with six solar terms for spring, the stamps feature “Spring Commences”,“Spring Showers”, “Insects Waken”, “Vernal Equinox”, “Bright and Clear” and “Corn Rain”. With the stamp sheet arranged in tête - bêche pairs, it is the first time to have semicircular stamps, which will be launched on the day of “Spring Commences” to herald the first season of the year.

4Centenary of Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association

Founded in 1920, the Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) was the first non - governmental organisation in Hong Kong with women as its main service clients. Today, the YWCA has grown into an integrated social service agency that offers diversified and people - oriented community services. In celebration of YWCA’s outstanding contributions over a hundred years, Hongkong Post is launching an issue of four stamps to mark such a momentous occasion. 6Hong Kong Museums Collection - Selection from the Chih Lo Lou Collection

Part of the Hong Kong Museum of Art’s collection, the Chih Lo Lou collection of Chinese painting and calligraphy comprises works that span from the Song dynasty to modern times covering various schools and chronicle the aesthetics of different periods and regions. These works enjoy high acclaim from the heritage and arts sectors. The latest Hong Kong Museums Collection series presents five art pieces from the Chih Lo Lou collection: Landscapes Depicting Poems of Huang Yanlü by Shitao, Gathering Fungus by Lu Zhi, Paintings on Miscellaneous Subjects by Chen Zi, Peach Blossom Retreat by Tang Yin and Splashed - Colour Landscape by Zhang Daqian. The $20 sheetlet printed on special stamp paper is an unusual item not to be missed.

7World Heritage in China Series No. 9: Qinghai Hoh Xil

Qinghai Hoh Xil is the subject for World Heritage in China Series No. 9. Located in the north - east of the Qinghai - Tibetan Plateau, this site was inscribed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List as natural heritage in 2017. Its distinctive geographical and climatic settings have nurtured a unique ecology and rich biodiversity. The stamp sheetlet showcases the natural grandeur of Hoh Xil and wild species of Class I state protection recorded there, such as Tibetan antelope, wild yak, Tibetan wild ass and golden eagle. For the first time ever, the sheetlet is affixed with a “widescreen”stamp to underscore the theme.

The “Games of the XXXII Olympiad Tokyo 2020” Special Stamps were originally scheduled to be issued on the opening day of the Olympic Games on 24 July 2020. As affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has decided that the Olympic Games will be postponed to 2021. The above Special Stamp issue will be postponed to 2021 to tie in with the organisationof the Olympic Games. The exact release date of the Special Stamp will be announced later in the light of the ultimate decision of the IOC on when to organisethe Olympic Games.

Serialised from 1989 to 2015, Storm Riders was a classic long-form wuxia comic of Hong Kong created and edited by the renowned comic artist Mr MA Wing-shing. Over the years, it has been enduringly popular among readers from Hong Kong and those around the world.
Hongkong Post issues stamp products, ranging from a set of six stamps and two stamp sheetlets to a first day cover and a presentation pack. The issue is designed on the comic headed by Wind, Cloud and Nameless. It is the very first time to recreate the legendary heroes and classic story scenes of Storm Riders, which accompanied numerous Hong Kong people throughout their teenage years, on stamps. A set of four stamps is printed with gold foil stamping, featuring Santa Claus in lively and interesting illustrations who extends his warm regards in this joyous festival by paying a visit to Hong Kong. While touring around hand in hand with his companions, Santa always bears in mind to get an authentic taste of the city, from savouring Chinese tea and dim sum in a traditional tea restaurant to playing on the swings in a children’s playground and practising Tai Chi on the waterfront of Victoria Harbour, as well as taking a tram ride to deliver presents and seasonal blessings to the people of Hong Kong.
